Artist Statement
My heart has found rest in truth and it has planted ever growing wonder. I am greatly influenced by being in the present and reflecting on everything in time working together. I am impacted by thoughtful architecture, uncontrolled nature, broken beauty, the modalities and essences around us, the power of the mind, the hope of restoration, the harmony of solitude and relationships, and both the grandeur and minutiae of existence.
The boundaries of my personal studio practice actively change (my supply choice, my discipline focus, my work space, etc.) with the fluidity of where I am in my life. I have learned to adapt to what is presently accessible to me, accessibility that I am aware of. For instance, I began to write and created my first mural when I did not have a personal physical space to create freely. Sometimes my ideas call for a planned out intricate installation/ sculpture, and other times I am drawn to a large canvas for a free flow release. Large or small, complexity or simplicity, my work is constantly inspiring one another, polishing one another, sharpening one another, working together in fellowship like a community. Each piece is part of a continuous story - strung together in thankfulness and trust.
The work I create is rooted in truth and is nurtured by grace. It is meant to inspire hope and encourage growth. Each piece is an opportunity to seek past our own worlds and experience an accessible dimension of peace and love.
My art is my testimony. It is a reflection of the newness and freedom that is eternally gifted to me by my Creator through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
